Laparoscopic Surgery

Minimally invasive surgery is being applied to many of the operations that have been traditionally performed through a large open incision.

These include:

  • Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (Gall Bladder Removal)
  • Laparoscopic Colon Resection
  • Laparoscopic Hernia Repair
  • Laparoscopic Splenectomy
  • Laparoscopic Anti-Reflux Surgery (for Hiatal Hernia and Acid Reflux Disease)

With smaller incisions there is typically less discomfort and a shorter recovery time. Laparoscopic Colon Resection usually will shorten hospital stays by 2-3 days due to quicker pain resolution and recovery of intestinal function.

Laparoscopic Gall Bladder Removal can often be done in an outpatient setting, and generally allows return to normal activities within the first 5-7 days.
